All boards are constructed with aerospace quality materials focusing on performance first and aesthetics later. Although it elevates the cost of the board over traditional polyester resin, Boom skimboards exclusivly laminates with epoxy. The benefits in bonding , abrasion resistance and flexiability among many other factors make epoxy an easy decsion. We work closely each manufaturer to ensure the most deirable results from the ingredients we order which has helped develop the perfect recipe for strong, lightweight skimboards.

The industry standard and what is typically found on most entry level boards. When laminated properly this material provides a durable ,affordable board with ample flex . While it is weaker than an s glass and has nowhere near the stiffness of carbon it is still the ideal construction for a beginning or adolescent rider who does require the vigorous strngth of higher priced boards just yet.

Originally developed as a military alternative to the looser woven standard glass, This material is composed of larger induvidual fiber which results in a much tighter weave. It is MUCH stronger than e-glass thanks to the larger fibers ability to transfer load during stressful impacts. Allthough not as stiff as carbon, a board laminated in s glass with be much more resilient to breaking thanks to an ability to absorb and disperse impact through flexion instead of snapping under stress.

Typically referred to as the top of the line in skimboard manufacturing. This lamination results in a strong, lightweight board with unmarveled stiffness. The lack of flex in this board helps transfer speed by minimizing any chance of drag or contortion. Furthermore carbon is an amazingly abrasion resistant material and each lamination still features strategically placed cabon patches to protect vital areas .

*all carbon fiber boards feature at least one full layer of carbon on both the topside and bottom of the board, sometimes even two full layers.

We like to use 3 layers of material on each side but with high tolerence fabrics it is possible to make lighter equal weight boards with less material but higher risk. Lghter boards are certainly more responsive but do not always excelin windy conditions and may not withstand the tests of abrasion. This being said all boards have a shelf life under the feet of an aggressive rider so feel free to call and discuss how we can truly create a custom board...instead of just picking some colors.

Cosmetics

Our boards some standard with a sanded, semi-gloss finish. At no extra cost they can become a polished gloss or textured. Although using paint on our boards would provide better covereage and a more even coloring, we elect to only use necessary materials in construction. Instead we dye our resin as we introduce it into the lamination. While this process is much more difficult and not always as predictable as paint, it results in a much stronger bond by allosing complete chemical bonding of the materials whereas paint would only bond mechanically at best and could result in early retirement for the board you just spent all of that money on! That being said we do everything we can to make the lightest strongest board possible. With this in mind some materials such as carbon dont take quite as much resin to wet out as others and may show through in the raw as black spots on the final product. Personally, I am a huge fan of this if for nothing else, the proof that your boards actually made of carbon! Solid colors are no charge and custom resin art is only $40.
