Rails are by far the most undermined and mistunderstood component of a skimboard. By raising or lower the apex just a millimeter you create an entirely different ride and turn a cruising board into a one way ticket to shack city. Personally, i am a huge fan of a low volume hard rail on both my surfboards and skimboards because it allows my extreme lack of coordination a second chance at success. A hard edge allows quick release and that release translates into drive and maneuverability which in my case allows my heavy front foot to whip through turns and find makable sections on late waves. All Rails feature full wrap, which means six layers of fabric on rail with strategic carbon patching as well as an in house engineered composite band bonded to the perimeter of the core which provides additional impact resistance.
All Boom skimboards feature a dense, closed cell core married
with a composite edging that adds rail durability and additional
assistance distributing load. By employing this edging we add
signifigant stiffness to the flexible core which in turn provides
additional strength no matter which lamination you choose while
also helping conuter shorebreack snaps by spreading the impact throughout the entire board and allowing more area to absorb
the impact.
